Chess Endgame Studies Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
Chess Endgame Studies is a chess study app that does not require an account. Android version 1.1.0 and later may show advertising to users who confirm that they are at least 18 years old. Earlier versions do not show ads.
Age Information
The app asks for a birth date so it can determine whether advertising is appropriate. The birth date and exact age are not saved or transmitted. The app stores only one result on your device: adult, under 18, or declined. Users who are under 18 or prefer not to provide a birth date can use every chess feature without ads, and the app does not initialize or request ads from Google Mobile Ads for them.
Data Stored On Your Device
The app may store solved-study progress, settings, saved analysis variations, the coarse age result described above, and advertising delivery state such as whether a completed study still has a pending interstitial. This data is stored locally so the app can restore your preferences and study state. The developer does not receive this local app data.
Stockfish Analysis
Chess engine analysis runs locally in the app using a bundled Stockfish engine. Positions analyzed by Stockfish are not sent to a remote chess engine service.
Advertising For Confirmed Adults
For confirmed adults, the Android app uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform. The app requests current privacy choices before requesting an ad and provides a Privacy choices entry in Settings when Google reports that one is required.
According to Google's Mobile Ads SDK disclosure, the SDK may automatically collect and share an IP address (which may estimate general location), app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers. Google states that it uses this information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention and encrypts it in transit. Google handles this data under its Privacy Policy and advertising policies.
Other Third Parties
If you install the app through Google Play, Google may also process Play Store, install, crash, and device diagnostic data under Google's own policies. The app does not include a separate developer-operated analytics service.
Deleting Data
You can replace the saved age result and review available Google privacy choices from the in-app Settings screen. You can delete all locally stored app data from Settings, by clearing the app storage in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app. Android also provides controls to reset or delete the device advertising ID.
Changes
This policy will be updated before a future release materially changes these practices.
